If your local authority accepts batteries as part of their home recycling scheme there may be special instructions on how to put them out for collection. It is best to check with them first. Use this locator to find out what you can and can't recycle in your home scheme. Please never place them in your home recycling without knowing if they accept them, and more importantly, never add them to your general waste. 

Batteries have precious materials which can be repurposed if processed correctly.
